Day 4 Parameters: Bananas and Yogurt (or Skim Milk) Eat as many as 8 bananas, and 8 servings of fat free weight watchers yogurt (or 8 glasses of skim milk). Yes, bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, but on this day your body will need the essential calcium and carbs and protein that will lessen your craving for sweets.
Saturday was Day 4 of the “New Year New You” food challenge…. And Day 4 is always the day I dread the MOST. Same as the previous days, for beverages I had my one cup of black coffee in the morning, and then herbal tea and water for the remainder of the day.
I ate all my bananas and had all my servings of yogurt today. I opted for the yogurt because I don’t drink milk. This day, same as previous years, was by far the hardest day so far. On top of it being a regular day, I was also contending with my “monthly friend”… which always gives me crazy cravings anyway!
I’m not going to lie… I was SUPER cranky on Saturday… BUT, and this is a big but… I did not cheat. Not once. And I’d have to look back on previous years to be sure, but I’m pretty sure that this is the first time in five years of doing this that I got all the way through Day 4 without caving and having something else.
I’ve almost shifted my mindset to approaching this whole thing like a science experiment. Every time I find myself thinking of wanting to cave in and get something else to eat, I tell myself “If you do that, you’ll never know what your full potential on doing this is”…. “you’ve come this far, are you really going to throw in the towel now?”… and what has been the biggest motivator lately… “If you can get all the way through this just one time without cheating on any of the days, then you’ll know what your full potential on this program is, you will have answered all your questions, and if you choose to, you’ll never have to do this again!”
