"New Year New You": Day 1

Day 1 Parameters: Fruit Day - Eat all the fruits you want, except bananas. The lowest calorie fruits are watermelon and cantaloupe, so if you eat mostly melons you will lose more weight.

Yesterday was Day 1 of the seven day “New Year New You” cleanse… and I passed with flying colours! No cheating… I was able to stay the course. The days I find the most challenging are the ones where I can’t eat anything heated, like this one. But I wasn’t about to cave on the first day! I’m really trying to get through these seven days without cheating… every year I’ve cheated somewhere, so here’s hoping 5th time is charm, and I can get through year 5!

For beverages, I had one cup of black coffee in the morning, and then the remainder of the day I drank water or herbal tea.

For fruit, I think the key to fruit day is variety and to set certain fruits for certain meals… so you feel like you’ve had a mealtime. I had an apple and an orange for breakfast, honeydew melon and watermelon for lunch, pineapple and cantaloupe for supper, and then munched on grapes through the day for my snack. I found that I was able to physically feel relatively full, and my cravings for other foods weren’t too bad. The real test was making mini pizzas for my family for supper… while I ate cantaloupe and pineapple!

Day 1 done, in the books, and completed relatively “pain free”. What will happen on Day 2? Tune in tomorrow to find out!
