When you set up a profile, you’ll enter your basic information (name, age, weight, height) as well as what your fitness goals are and how quickly you’re wanting to get there. (There’s no option for “tomorrow”…. I checked)
Once this is entered, you can select which low carb lifestyle you are wanting to follow, whether it’s Keto, high protein Keto, different percentages, or customize it just for you. For anyone on Atkins, the customizable feature is perfect, as it allows you to put right in whatever the website recommendations are. For those working with a Nutritionist, the customizable feature is also great.
In addition, you’re able to link Carb Manager with certain fitness trackers and apps, and you have the option of adjusting your calorie intake based on your exercise.
The real strength of this app, in my opinion, is the food journal and the ability to save food and create recipes. In addition, it has a barcode scanner which gives you the information in a flash. It also will rate different foods based on their carb/fibre/protein/fat levels… so as you are using it you are learning which carbs are good and which you should avoid. It rates foods on the following scale:
- A: Focus on these foods
- B: Limit
- C: Strictly Limit
- F: Avoid
