Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last several weeks, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This initiative to bring awareness to a debilitating disease caught a viral life of its own, joining celebrities and “regular folk” alike to take part.

Although some criticism has been garnered as to whether the viral nature of this was helpful or harmful, what you can’t deny are numbers. Since the challenge went viral in late July 2014, as of August 29th donations to the ALS Association have topped 100 million. During the same period last year, ALS raised 2.8 million. Regardless of which side of the fence… or ice bucket…. You are on the bottom line is that we all can make a difference.
