I *ONLY* lost one pound!

I *ONLY* lost one pound!

Anyone who has tried to lose weight at some point has been there… you work hard, change up your eating habits, and make a concerted effort to be more active. You’ve cut back on the caffeine and sugar, and are drinking water like a boss. Then THE day arrives… the weigh-in day. You step on the scale feeling like Hercules, only to look down and realize you’ve only lost one pound. Just one pound.  All that hard work, and it’s just one pound. Feeling defeated, you shuffle away and debate on drowning your sorrows in a cupcake.

Losing one pound of fat is NOT an easy thing to do and even just one pound makes a huge difference on your body! In order to lose that one pound, you have to have reduced your calorie consumption by 3500 calories. The best way to accomplish this is through a combination of diet and exercise. Added bonus of exercising is that you’ll not only be losing fat more effectively, but increasing your muscle mass… and a pound of muscle takes up a lot less space than a pound of fat.

Not to mention, muscle also burns calories more effectively than fat… so it’s a win win really. Carrying around one extra pound on your body converts to FOUR pounds of pressure on your knees too! Just think, if you decided to walk a mile, the accumulated reduction in knee load would be more than 4800 pounds. So if you think about it, the more you move, the easier it becomes to move.
