Lately I’ve been thinking of myself as a Guinea Pig for Wellness initiatives. My latest endeavor has involved water. I was reading an article a couple weeks ago that talked about the health benefits of drinking three litres of water a day. So, this is what I’ve been doing the past week, and I have to say it is NOT easy!

Too often, I would get to the end of the night, realize I still had another three cups to go and would just drink them. This of course meant waking up through the night to go to the bathroom.  In an attempt to stop forgetting to drink through the day, I installed an app on my phone which tells me to drink water every hour. But it’s really been a struggle. The recommended daily intake of water for everyone is to take your weight and divide it by two. That number is how many ounces of water you should be consuming daily. From this point forward, since this is a lower amount for me than three litres, I am going to give this a try and see if it helps!

All of us can benefit from drinking more water… it helps keep headaches away, keeps us from getting dehydrated, helps flush our systems, gives us clearer skin and helps us to be more alert. And with summer now here, it’s even more important to get our recommended dose! The next time you reach for a drink, drop the caffeine and grab some water. Your body will thank you.
