Day Four - Skim Milk and Bananas

Day Four - Skim Milk and Bananas... and happily the halfway point to this week-long cleanse! Day Four instructions were: Eat as many as eight bananas, and 8 glasses of skim milk or Weight Watchers yogurt if you aren't a milk drinker, since it's basically artificially flavoured skim milk. Yes, bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, but on this day your body will need the essential calcium and carbs and protein that will lessen your craving for sweets.


My co-worker made it through day four with flying colours! She stayed the course, and even got creative with using frozen bananas blended with skim milk to make banana shakes to drink. It isn't easy limiting your food intake that much, so huge props to her for getting through this day without cheating! For me, this was the day of the week I was dreading the most. I am not a milk drinker, I'm really picky about my yogurt, and I'm not a huge fan of bananas! (Pretty much an all-around recipe for disaster for me). I did buy the "diet yogurt", a liter of skim milk, and six bananas. I started off my day with the very best of intentions, and honestly through the day I did great and stayed the course. I realized in the morning that I did not like the yogurt at all, so that was dropped and it was just bananas and milk. I ate two bananas during the day, and after that I just couldn't eat any more. I did get through the skim milk. When I got home, I ended up having a couple of english muffins with tomato sauce and cheese, so for the most part a regular supper. I wasn't happy about it, but as a wise person said to me "today is a new day", and I don't think any of us should beat ourselves up for what we see as failures, but instead celebrate the victories. After all, wellness and healthy eating is about what you do most of the time, not what you do once in a while.  I will say that with the drastic change in my eating habits the last four days, I noticed my appetite was different, so that's also a plus!
