You only need to set foot into about any retail store this time of year to realize that the holiday season is fully upon us! Many find this time of year stressful and busy, but with the right planning it doesn’t have to be. Just give it a rest.

Starting early really is key: even if you don’t do your shopping early like some of us, there are little things you can address – picking up your Christmas cards and filling them out the last weekend in November, planning when to decorate the tree, which weekend you are going to do your Christmas baking (if you do bake) I always like to get my baking done and out the door a little earlier because a lot of us get a ton of sweets right before Christmas time… sending them out a little earlier gives people the chance to enjoy them more.

If you start working out a plan a month prior to Christmas, you can save yourself a lot of hustle down the road! It’s extremely important with all the craziness that you give yourself time to rest. If you find yourself getting burnt out, the season won’t be enjoyable or you or those around you.

Christmas should be a happy time of year where everyone is surrounded by friends and family. If you’re too busy trying to plan everything to be “just right”, you miss out on the quality bonding time and the experience of what this holiday should really be about. Stop and smell the roses, or, in this case, stop and smell the yule log! Be sure this holiday season to kick back, put your feet up, have some eggnog and just enjoy the time!
