You’ve made the commitment to eat healthier and be more active. You’ve bought the right foods and joined a gym. Just when you think that you have everything in order… that’s when your body decides to hit you with a craving for chocolate. Or nachos. Or French Fries. So why are you wired wrong? Like anything else, your body is a creature of habit, and it gets used to what you feed it. And even the foods most devoid of nutrients can have traces of things your body needs. So how do you decipher what it is your body is asking for, and retrain it with foods that are good for you? Take a look at the list below, and give it a try! Your body is craving: Chocolate Your body needs:
- Magnesium (nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruit)
Your body is craving: Sugary Foods Your body needs:
- Chromium (broccoli, grapes, cheese, chicken)
- Carbon (fresh fruits)
- Phosphorus (chicken, beef, fatty fish, eggs, dairy, nuts, vegetables, grains)
- Sulphure (cranberries, horseradish, cabbage, cauliflower)
- Tryptophan (cheese, raisins, sweet potatoes, spinach)
Your body is craving: Bread, Pasta and Other Carbs Your body needs:
- Nitrogene (high protein foods, meat, fatty fish, nuts, beans, chia seeds)
Your body is craving: Oily Foods Your body needs:
- Calcium (organic milk, cheese, green leafy vegetables)
Your body is craving: Salty Foods Your body needs:
- Chloride (fatty fish, goat milk)
- Silicon (cashews, nuts, seeds)
